Transporting Your Harley-Davidson® with Smart Security?

A customer from Lebanon, New Hampshire was recently in. He was in for a new battery. He had transported his motorcycle, with a smart security system, from Lebanon, New Hampshire to Florida. He had loaded his Harley-Davidson® into the back of his trailer and driven straight down. When he arrived, his Street Glide wouldnt even turn over. The battery was dead. He jumped the motorcycle and got it running. When he arrived back in Vermont, he wanted to change the battery. There is a trick. If you would like to transport your motorcycle, you can shut the Smart Security System off relatively easy. Otherwise, the alarm is activated by motion detection and discharges the battery going down the road in a trailer.

In the transport mode, the security system is armed without enabling the motion detector for one ignition cycle. This allows the Harley-Davidson® to be picked up and moved in an armed state, however, any attempt to start the engine when the fob is not within range will trigger the alarm. To enter transport mode.

  1. With the assigned FOB on the seat, turn the ignition switch to IGN.
  2. Before the security system lamp goes out, turn the ignition switch to off.
  3. Within 3 seconds, simoltaneously press both the left and the right turn signal switches.
  4. After the turn signals flash once, the system enters the transport mode. With the FOB removed, the Harley-Davidson® can be moved without setting off the alarm.
